What is Super Finishing?

Friction, heat, vibration and fatigue adversely affects a range of parts and components. Wherever metals come into contact, stresses and friction occur, reducing performance.

Super-finishing regains a performance advantage by producing a superfine finish where it is most needed. The process removes peaks that remain after manufacturing of any machined metal component and creates a uniform, high-lustre finish.

The process utilises high density, non-abrasive ceramic media and two specially formulated metal finishing compounds. The rubbing motion across the components developed by the machine and media effectively wipes ‘peaks’ off the surfaces, removing a micro-layer of metal. It does not affect the integrity of the parts.
